Toujours à Troite

Toujours à Troite, showcasing Jean Carlu’s collection of work, is a conceptual exhibition located at the Charles de Gaulle airport in France. The one-armed illustrator, greatly influenced by cubism, achieved fame through war propaganda encouraging American’s to take action in WWII. The exhibition collateral is a mix of French and English for travelers who do not speak the language. The logomark, inspired by the accident that removed his right arm, compliments his work (reference “America’s Answer! Production!”). Travelers viewing the collection are handed a small booklet when entering the exhibition. On the first page, they are prompted to download an augmented reality app via their smart devices that utilizes NFC to enhance and educate viewer’s on a more in-depth, personal scale. Upon exiting the exhibition, a travel-friendly package is handed out. Inside the recyclable tube is a screen printed shirt with the exhibition’s logo on it wrapped within canvas with the gallery’s title, Toujours à Troite, screen printed on it.
